Olow at WeDressFair
An ethical brand of creative clothing
Olow is a French brand founded in 2006. The brand is the project of 2 friends from the Paris suburbs. The project was a pioneer on many levels: their brand was one of the first to open an online shop; their hybrid concept blends fashion and art, with every collection created in collaboration with artists; and they made strong commitments to ethical fashion.
Now based in Nantes and Paris, Olow is also about travel, encounters, adventure and events, which have shaped its strong identity.
Olow clothing's environmental commitments
Olow sets out to take the opposite approach to fast fashion and its dreadful footprint on the planet, with collections designed to last and made from the most sustainable materials possible. They work with GOTS-certified organic cotton, tencel, recycled cotton and recycled wool, among others… They go further by sourcing all of these materials in Europe and relying on environmentally friendly production methods.
The brand also supports various projects and organisations, such as “Wings of the Ocean”, which works to clean up the oceans, and “1% for the planet”, donating 1% of its turnover to environmental organisations.
Olow's ethical commitments
Since the very beginning, all production has taken place in Portugal, around sixty kilometres from Porto. The factories are family-run and all located just a stone's throw from the ocean, in green, rural surroundings. Over the years, the founders have built real relationships with their manufacturers and shared some good times.
Another thing close to their hearts is that everyone should benefit when you buy from Olow. They offer customers an ethical product that takes both the environment and society into account, while allowing their factories to keep running and growing. The brand isn't chasing unlimited profit, so it keeps its margins reasonable.
