Kleman, ethical shoe brand for women and men

René Cléon was a French prisoner during the Second World War. Over 5 years, he made his first pairs of leather shoes. At the end of the war, he gathered a team of apprentices and decided to put his French craftsmanship into practice.

The family home in La Romagne became a shoe factory. Then, in 1970, the next generation diversified the business, without losing the technical expertise that had become so precious over the years.

Kleman eco-friendly shoes have never lost their raw, unisex vintage style, blended with a workwear look. Among them are leather derbies, most notably their iconic Padror shoes, and sturdy leather boots.

The responsible leather shoe brand also offers recycled leather card holders with lighter thread topstitching that contrasts with the raw leather.

Kleman shoes' environmental commitments

The eco-friendly brand's raw materials are carefully selected close to the workshop. The cowhides come from European farms.

Their eco-friendly approach stands out in particular through production based in Europe and strict choices of raw materials. The ethical fashion brand Kleman uses recycled materials and has obtained GOTS and GRS certifications. Kleman also offers vegetable-tanned leathers that are chrome-free. Producing Made in France shoes keeps the environmental impact lower.

The artisan workshop is located in France, in La Romagne, right at the heart of a historic French shoemaking tradition. The factory's heritage of more than 75 years is recognised across Europe for the high standards of its French craftsmanship and its cowhide leather.
