The brand offers sustainable sneakers with a minimalist, timeless design. Founded in 2018 by Arnaud Barboteau, O.T.A offers a sustainable alternative to classic trainers that is kinder to the environment. With a recycled tyre sole, O.T.A trainers are made to last.
O.T.A's environmental commitments
Respect for the environment is a pillar of the brand.
The rubber the eco-friendly shoe brand uses for its sole is natural rubber. Incorporating recycled car tyre for greater durability, this sole is unique.
A car tyre takes more than 400 years to start breaking down, and much longer to break down completely. Often ending up in landfill or burnt, these tyres are a major source of pollution. To extend the life of these tyres, O.T.A has incorporated them into its soles, making them unbreakable and hard-wearing.
O.T.A currently works with Italian tanneries whose European obligations prevent the use of chromium 6, which is harmful to the environment and to people (REACH test). Aware of the issues around leather tanning, the brand is trying to find an alternative.
O.T.A's ethical commitments
All of O.T.A's production takes place in Portugal, in a craft factory in the Guimaraes region. Producing in Europe was a deliberate choice by the ethical trainer brand to ensure that working conditions are respected.
